• What is Nature’s Point manufactured stone made from?

  Our stone is manufactured from a mix of cement, aggregate and pigment.  This all-natural mixture is poured into a stone reproduction mold and allowed to cure.  The result is an exact lightweight reproduction of a natural stone.

• How does the cost of manufactured stone compare to that of using real stone?

  The cost of our manufactured stone is about one third that of real stone.  Manufactured stone weighs about one third of the weight of real stone, therefore there are also savings to be realized in transportation costs and installation costs.

• How is color applied to manufactured stone?

  Color is added to our stone using the same natural iron oxide pigments found in real stone.  Therefore our stone offers the same colors and shades found in nature.

• Will Nature’s Point manufactured stone fade with time?

  No.  Since almost all of our materials are found in real stone, our stone has the same color qualities found in nature.  Iron oxide colors are stable in our stones and will not fade for the life of the product.

• Should a sealer be applied to Nature’s Point stone?

  As our stone is completely stable, a concrete sealer is not normally required.  However if the application is in close proximity to chlorine (pool) it is advisable to use a sealer.  A good quality concrete sealer is usually available at local hardware outlets.  Be advised that if a sealer is applied to our stone it may affect the final color of the product.

• How is Nature’s Point manufactured stone installed?

  Manufactured stone can be easily installed on board or block applications.  On board, a metal lath is first installed, then a mortar scratch coat is applied to the lath and allowed to set for up to thirty minutes.  The stone is then "buttered" with mortar and pressed on to the lath.  Manufactured stone can be applied directly to clean block and brick.  For further information contact us and we'll be happy to answer any application questions that you may have.

• Is Nature’s Point stone susceptible to extreme temperatures?

  Manufactured stone has been used in exterior applications in extremely cold and hot environments with no significant detrimental effects.  Manufactured stone is simply pulverized limestone molded into the required shapes.  Therefore it has basically the same physical characteristics as real stone.

  No, manufactured stone is made with totally inert ingredients.  Therefore there are no odors or dust that would limit the use of manufactured stone in any environment.  Manufactured stone is non combustable.

  The cost of installed manufactured stone is one third to one half that of real stone.  It requires no footings, foundations or wall ties.  Manufactured stone weighs about one half the weight of real stone( ten pounds per square ft.) therefore transportation and handling is much easier than using real stone. Manufactured stone is available in an infinite color range and can be designed and manufactured specifically for your project.
